Block Party! was the 2013–2014 robotics competition for FIRST Tech Challenge. In the competition, two alliances, each consisting of two teams of high school students, competed to score blocks in plastic crates atop alliance-colored pendulums, raise a flag, and hang their robot off the ground from a horizontal pole suspended above the playing field.

We were able to both hang and raise the flag during several matches.  Hanging worked well from the outset and we improved the mechanic of the design throughout the year so that it became very reliable.  It was the highlight of our competition work.

This season (2013-14) saw us win 2nd Place Innovate Award at our first qualifier of the year, win the Think Award! at our second qualifierof the year, go to the Georgia State FTC Championship.  At State our team was Ranked 3rd on points after the qualifier matches and had a qualification record of 5-1-0.  We were the Captain of the Finalist Alliance and during the elimiantion matches we had a record of 3-3-0.  The matches were close in the finals and we lost 2-1.  It was a thrill to beat Monkey Madness given that they were both undefeated for the 2013-14 season to that point and the reigning FTC World Champions.  We ended the day as Captain of the Finalist Alliance and won the Rockwell Collins Innovate Award.  We got to advanced to the South Super Regional in San Antonio, Texas.
