2014 South Super-Regional

We drove to San Antonio from Marietta in an 11 passenger van.  With all of us and our equipment we had to have two carry-alls on top of the van and it was still incredibly crowded in the van. The drive out took 19 hours and we were exhausted when we got to the hotel.

At equipment check-in at the event the hardware inspector told us that our lights were functional and therefore illegal.  We tried to explain that they served no purpose other than decoration but we were told to remove them prior to competing.  We had rigged a servo to change the colors and had it programmed throughout our code.  We had to remove that as well prior to software check-in.  We got the changes made over-night and got it approved, but we had lots of problems with running our robot the first day of competition.

Our first day we were 0-4 and went back to the hotel and worked on the robot - both hardware and software. The second day we came back and were 2-0 for an overall record of 2-4 for the event. The 2 wins the second day were something that our coaches were very proud of because it showed to them that we just would not quit, no matter what, and came back and continued to do our best.  We ended the Super-Regionals ranked 25th out of 36 teams.

On our trip we got to visit River Walk, the Alamo, and do a little shopping too.  We also got to meet a lot of great people in San Antonio and had a great time despite not performing as well as we would have liked in the qualifying matches.
