Team GENIUS sent out a call in November asking if teams wanted to have a scrimmage sometime late December or early January. The original idea was to have a few teams get together at their meeting room in the basement of a team members house. Well, the idea took off and before they knew it GENIUS had 12 Georgia FTC teams signed up for the scrimmage. Space became an issue and Rockin' Robots offered to host at nearby Faith Lutheran Church & School in the gym. Sundays being an issue with using church space it was decided that a Saturday would be the best choice. So, we had a scrimmage sponsored jointly by GENIUS 5875 and Rockin' Robots 5940 on Saturday, January 2nd from Noon to 4pm.
A field was provided with the necessary parts and equipment for friendly matches. The gym and cafeteria were set up for use by teams as pit areas with tables and chairs. Snacks were also available for purchase. Power and basic tools were made available as was a sizing box for teams to check their robot for competition size. Rockin' Robots new 3D Printer was also up and running and teams were able to ask questions and observe the CAD/3D process in our team room off the gym.
GENIUS set up a table to sell the RES-Q t-shirts to help raise money to sponsor any Georgia FTC teams that make it to Worlds this season. They also had raffels of FIRST and FTC gear to raise money for the same cause. We would like to thank Team GENIUS for setting up the event and including Rockin' Robots in the process!!
