Faith Lutheran Robo Eagles FLL Team

In addition to the Faith Lutheran Middle School FTC Rockin' Robots FTC team, Faith Lutheran also sponsors a First Lego League (FLL) elementary school team - the Robo Eagles 6032.

We're very proud of the Faith FLL Robo Eagles.  They won the FIRST PLACE CHAMPION'S AWARD at their qualifier last year which is the top award in FLL.  This is their fourth season in FLL after our team transitioned to FTC from FLL.  The team is made up of 4th through 6th graders at Faith Lutheran School with three parent coaches.

FIRST Lego League

As stated by Dave Lavery, "FLL is the strong triangle at the base of the FIRST totem pole." FIRST Lego League, or FLL, is a program designed for students ages 9-14. FLL is a result of an exciting alliance between FIRST and the LEGO Company. Guided by adult mentors and their own imaginations, FLL students solve real-world engineering challenges, develop important life skills, and learn to make great contributions to society. Teams from all over the world participate in FLL.

Official tournaments must follow the judging and awards structure determined by FLL. Although the audience mostly sees teams playing the Robot Game at tournaments, teams are also being judged on:

  • Core Values

  • Robot Design

  • Project

The FLL Core Values are the cornerstones of the FLL program. They are among the fundamental elements that distinguish FLL from other programs of its kind. By embracing the Core Values, participants learn that friendly competition and mutual gain are not separate goals, and that helping one another is the foundation of teamwork.

  • We are a team.

  • We do the work to find solutions with guidance from our coaches and mentors.

  • We know our coaches and mentors don't have all the answers; we learn together.

  • We honor the spirit of friendly competition.

  • What we discover is more important than what we win.

  • We share our experiences with others.

  • We display Gracious Professionalism® and Coopertition® in everything we do.

  • We have FUN!

The FLL Core Values are the fundamental elements that distinguish FLL from other programs of its kind. Participants learn that friendly competition and mutual gain are not separate goals, and that helping one another is the foundation of teamwork.

Teams build and program an autonomous robot using LEGO MINDSTORMS technology to score points in 2.5-minute matches on a themed playing field.
